Hardin residents voice Hwy A concerns

Over 50 concerned Hardin residents, Hardin-Central School District staff and farmers met with Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) District Maintenance Engineer Tonya Lohman last week to discuss the condition of State Hwy A. Many residents wanted to voice their opinions during the meeting, held at the Methodist Church on Oct. 25. Lohman has been with the Kansas City district – which includes nine counties — since June. According to residents, State Hwy A has not been in a safe condition to drive on since the 1993 flooding in Hardin. Stan Utley, a resident for 22 years, said he has contacted MoDOT and state representatives about the conditions of State Hwy A. “I’ve complained about this highway the entire time. I wrote to the director of MoDOT. I wrote the governor, I wrote the state representatives and the state senators.
