Spring is here and Ray County resident and Little Green Garden LLC Owner Beth Fortin – discusses how she raises her flowers during this time of the year. As April showers promise to bring May flowers, many area residents are hoping to see beautiful blooms sprouting this spring. Florist Fortin shared her flower care guide for the season: • Conduct a soil test if you haven’t already last fall: It is best in fall, as you can amend your garden over the winter and be ready to plant once the ground warms. Contact your local agricultural extension office for more information. • Look for native plant sales in your area in April: Starting with native plants is a great way to up your success rate, as they are adapted to your environment and therefore require far less effort to remain healthy. The wildlife will thank you and so will your body. Work smarter, not harder. • Find a locally sourced compost that is reliable and tested for nutrients: Expect to pay around $30 per cubic yard, plus…
