Fields leads second summer drama camp in August

Young area thespians will get to hone their skills at a summer drama camp Aug. 8-12 at the Farris Theatre. The camp will end with a showcase on Aug. 13 at the Farris. Priced at $25 per student, the camp consists of four workshops, each geared toward the ages of the students: Intro to Theatre/Audition Ready, Acting/Write a Play, Acting/Short Scenes, Crew/ Behind the Scenes. Presented by the Farris Youth Theatre Co. (FYTC), the camp is sponsored by Friends of the Farris and the Kiwanis Club of Richmond. It’s the second of two summer camps offered. “Our first set of camps was at the start of summer and the kids did an amazing job learning the basics of theater etiquette, vocabulary and expectations,” said Trish Fields, FYTC director. “They had fun developing characters, writing skits and even learned a dance number.
