Felony charges lead to probation for Richmond man after police pursuit
A Richmond man who led officers on a high-speed chase through residential streets and into oncoming highway traffic has been placed on probation after pleading guilty to two felony charges.
Brent Phillip Long, 45, recently pled guilty in Ray County Circuit Court to first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting a lawful stop by fleeing in a manner that created a substantial risk of serious injury or death. Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Kevin L. Walden sentenced Long to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections on the tampering charge and four years on the resisting charge. Execution of both sentences was suspended and Long was placed on supervised probation for five years, to be served consecutively.
As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed one additional felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. They also dismissed six misdemeanor charges, including exceeding the posted speed limit, failure to drive on the right half of the…
