Everyone’s a winner
The Hardin-Central School District challenged the Orrick School District to a donation drive challenge. Although Hardin-Central School District Superintendent Trey Cavanah said there were no winners due to the number of items donated, nearly $800 was raised and 800 items were donated, he said.
Before and during the basketball game last Friday, Hardin and Orrick’s residents donated money and items which included everything from coloring books and diapers to sports equipment.
“It was a joint effort in both communities,” said Cavanah.
The Interact Rotary Club, Orrick High School, Millville Church and Dalton’s Difference Foundation partnered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Kansas City. Dalton’s Difference Foundation was created by Kirk and Lisa Thacker in memory of their son, Dalton Thacker, a Hardin-Central student lost by suicide in 2020.
