Easter event at center
RICHMOND – The Brothers and Sisters in Christ hosted their first Easter event for the public April 9 at the Eagleton Center.
Children ages 4 to 14 and their parents were welcome to attend.
“There are so many children out there that don’t really know the real story of Easter,” Brothers and Sisters in Christ member Wilma Gardner said. “We just want to get that great story out there to kids. There’s a lot of children who think of it as chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs, but we want to tell them what the real story is.”
Gardner has been part of the Brothers and Sisters of Christ for four years, and with other committee members, she has helped organize Victory in the Park and Harvest Celebration.
They had a puppet show about the story of Easter and music followed. The children sang songs such as “God’s Not Dead” and “Father Abraham.” They also did the sign language for “Jesus Loves Me” while singing along. Afterward, the children played games outside, and participated in crafts and enjoyed snacks.
About 20 children attended.
