Driver charged after 14-year-old killed in crash
A Richmond teenager is facing a felony DWI charge after a rollover crash resulted in the death of a 14-year-old passenger.
Madelynn L. Carroll, 18, has been charged with driving while intoxicated, resulting in the death of another, a class C felony. She appeared this week before Eighth Judicial Circuit Judge Lori J. Baskins, represented by private attorney Scott Hamilton.
Carroll waived her right to a formal reading of the charges and entered a plea of not guilty.
“We request the state be put on notice for a bond hearing,” said Hamilton. Baskins accepted the plea and scheduled a bond hearing at 11:30 a.m. on July 23. According to the complaint filed by Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille A. Johnston, the range punishment for a class C felony is imprisonment in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections for a term not less than three years and not to exceed 10 years, or by a fine not to exceed $10,000, or by both imprisonment and a fine.
