Donkey basketball rides back into RHS gym

Donkey basketball, a hit fundraiser that offers fun for everyone, is coming back to Richmond. Richmond High School (RHS) Future Farmers of America (FFA) students and FFA teacher Laura Allen are hosting donkey basketball – where students and teachers ride donkeys and play basketball at the same time. The event is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday at the RHS gym. Admission will be $10. “We hosted donkey basketball last year for the first time in a long time,” said Allen. “Someone told me that probably 1015 years ago Richmond hosted donkey basketball as a combined event with a couple of other towns.” She confirmed live donkeys will be playing basketball. The show offers 90 minutes of wholesome family fun. Donkey basketball is believed to have been a popular fundraising event since the depression. The donkeys can also play baseball and run races.
