RICHMOND – The public can expect a change in the number used to calculate what to pay the Richmond School District to educate students. “It went down,” Superintendent Greg Darling said. Because property values in the district increased – in part from the addition of housing that now shares the cost of education – the school board lowered the tax rate while maintaining the same level of income for services, Darling said. “The valuations went up. We have more building going on,” he said. The present tax rate of $4.5435 per $100 of assessed valuation will drop by 0.173 cents to $4.3705.
