County eyes GPS monitoring to cut jail costs

Ray County officials are reviewing a proposed contract renewal with Missouri Supervision, a private electronic monitoring company represented locally by Natalie Macy of Macey Bail Bonds. The program allows nonviolent offenders to be placed on GPS or alcohol-monitoring bracelets instead of being held in jail, a move officials said could save thousands of taxpayer dollars. Macy and Missouri Supervision affiliate Dustin Master gave a detailed overview of the equipment, enforcement process and available monitoring options. The company also provided a draft contract and documents explaining the business currently works with more than 37 counties across Missouri and Kansas. “In my opinion, if you’re worried about the person, I would put them on this,” said Master. “This is the best way to track them.
