Council issues community service award
RICHMOND – The Whitmer Symposium Historical Council presented civic leader and long-time Richmond resident Rob Kinnard with the 2021 David Whitmer Community Service Award.
The award is presented annually to a Ray County resident who has exemplified a life of community service and integrity.
Mayor Mike Wright and Jimmy Carter presented the service award to Kinnard in the Richmond City Council Chambers.
“Wow! I am humbled and honored to be recognized with past winners and with David Whitmer. The choice to serve others is always the right choice,” he said.
During one of his mission trips, a visit to Lebanon, Kinnard received the name of “Robman,” meaning “Lord’s Man” in Arabic.
Kinnard said he enjoys basketball and has helped hundreds of youths to learn to follow good leaders. His character-building Camp Kinnard does halftime routines with the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team.
