Council approves tax levy, blower repair
Richmond residents will see a slight decrease in the city’s property tax levy for 2025, even as higher assessments and new construction are expected to push collections above $1 million.
The council recently approved Bill No. 25-17, setting the general revenue levy at $0.6581, the park levy at $0.1643 and the debt service levy at $0.4100 per $100 of assessed valuation. The ordinance passed unanimously following a public hearing that drew no comments from the audience.
According to City Administrator Tonya Willim,
Richmond’s total assessed valuation rose 7.08%, from $81,586,807 to $87,360,771. A significant portion of the increase stemmed from construction and improvements, which grew from $80,970 in 2024 to $549,980 in 2025.
The total city levy for 2024 was 1.2417. For 2025, it is 1.2324. Projections for fiscal year 2026, based on the new levy, show total collections of $1,061,248.95. That includes $566,705.56 for general revenue, $141,482.64 for parks and $353,060.75 for debt…
