Coping tools include rooting family in resiliency

RICHMOND – Tri-County Mental Health Services is reaching out to the community to offer coping tools to help alleviate family stress caused by the coronavirus, COVID-19. The recommendations are part of multimedia resiliency and parenting campaigns. “Being together as a family for such extended periods during this difficult time can present its own challenges,” Tri-County prevention program development specialist Laura Bruce said. “Fortunately, there are many evidencebased resiliency tools that can make the experience a positive one.” Bruce said staff and the Northland Coalition have joined prevention advocate volunteers from the various other Northland community coalitions to share the coping skills caring adults can use to make stressful situations more comfortable. The Roots of Resilience Campaign, distributed by the coalitions, is designed to build connections, teach self-care and model healthy coping skills.
