Community strikes back against vandalism
Richmond residents want to aid Ideal Industries employees after their handmade scarecrows were demolished Oct. 15.
The incident is under investigation by the executive director of the nonprofit, Heather Pugh, and the Ray County Police Department as vandalism.
Pugh received a phone call the afternoon of Oct. 16 about the vandalism, which was followed by her calling the Ray County non-emergency line about the scarecrows being dragged and ruined on the business’ property.
Pugh is reviewing camera coverage. She has a window of time the evening of Oct. 15, a Saturday, in which the vandalism occurred, she said. And “the dispatch and P.D. were wonderful,” she added.
She pointed out that, although it was a terrible situation, Ideal Industries’ mission is strong and the community is supportive.
