Community prays for hometown, nation

All over America, on Thursday, May 4, at noon in their time zones, people gathered publicly to pray as a nation: It was National Day of Prayer. The theme this year was “Pray Fervently in Righteousness”. Ministers from the churches in and around Richmond met at the Ray County Courthouse, leading all who came to pray. The service began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a proclamation from Ray County Presiding Commissioner Billy Gaines, declaring May 4 to be a day of prayer for Ray County’s citizens. After Scripture reading and a song, Willie Isaacson shared a devotion, urging all present to help move America back toward acknowledgment of God and His laws for our troubled society. He noted it is not politics or culture that are troubling us, but God himself who is troubling his people, motivating them to act on the needs facing America.
