Commissioners, resident clash over accuracy
A public comment questioning the accuracy of meeting minutes sparked a pointed exchange, with Ray County commissioners pushing back on the claims and defending their process.
The discussion began during public comment of a recent meeting when resident Kurt Croix asked about the way meeting minutes are created, how long it takes for them to be released and why he had noticed what he described as repeated inaccuracies in the official record.
Croix specifically asked how long it takes for minutes to become available after the end of a meeting and what steps are involved in preparing them.
Presiding Commissioner Shelia Tracy and County Clerk Heather Maulsby explained the process typically begins the following day, when notes taken during the meeting are typed by Road and Bridge Secretary Breanna Risley before being reviewed and approved by commissioners the following week.
