Commission reviews jail repairs, other issues
Jail repairs remain a focus as Ray County leaders discussed lighting, wiring and inspection needs inside cell areas at a recent commission meeting.
Staff described the importance of addressing lighting and exhaust fans in pods.
“I can still go in there and put up lights,” said staff member Wilbur Polson.
“I think there are two or three pods I didn’t put lights in.”
A standing water leak and wiring issues were noted in one cell, along with a plan to meet at the jail later in the day to review work orders and inspection sheets.
“We’re doing weekly inspection sheets,” said Ray County Sheriff’s Office Captain Amy Sisson.
Commissioners also noted the county is working with contractors on the courthouse clock project and expects guidance soon on stonework. Problems with decorative lighting on top of the courthouse were flagged.
