Commission reopens Eagleton Center

RICHMOND – The Eagleton Center will reopen for community events, the Ray County Commission decided April 30. The center closed more than a year ago because of the pandemic. Graduation parties and other activities take place at the center in a typical year. “It’s time we open it up,” Commissioner Dave Powell said. “People have been trying to rent it.” Commissioners did not decide to open the center without first considering public safety. They agreed the facility would be disinfected after each use for the safety of the Ray County Senior Center, which operates in the same facility and caters to the group most vulnerable to illness and death from COVID-19 – people ages 65 and older. The Senior Center is not ready to reopen for daily functions, such as lunch, crafts, music and shooting pool.
