Commission hears complaints on traffic hazards, enforcement

Safety concerns on Bruns Road and 92nd Street dominated discussions at a recent Ray County Commissioners meeting, as residents urged officials to install stop signs and fix hazards they say have created dangerous driving conditions. One resident described repeated near misses at the intersection of Woods Road and 92nd Street. “I went out the other day and two cars pulled out in front of me. I was on Bruns and the second car didn’t even look my way, so they had no idea I was there,” said resident Christine Case. “They come down the hill from the west side to Bruns and they don’t stop, they just turn the corner.” Others detailed additional risks, including animals running into the roadway and heavy trucks speeding through. Resident Mary Ann Holt noted animals from a nearby house often wander freely, forcing drivers to dodge goats, ducks, geese and chickens at the corner.
