Cold, Chiefs evoke beautiful, wintery memory

I find myself going back in time again. No, I haven’t invented a time machine. My time travel is mental, not physical. A combination of the winter weather, following my beloved Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs and having another birthday recently has sent my mind back to the mid- to late 1990s and Southview Park in Richmond. It was around that time that I last played any form of American football. One of my last games was on a sunny, winterish afternoon at Southview Park. If memory serves, it was before the softball field had been built – and the parking lot, concession stand and bathrooms for the softball field had been built – so there was nothing but open field. If memory also serves, there were bits of snow on the ground, but there was far less of it than what’s blanketing the ground as of this writing.
