With Richmond City Council’s unanimous approval, Kansas City engineering firm Olsson will conduct a structural evaluation of the city gym floor. The city authorized Olsson to provide a $10,600 scope of services. “In an effort to be prepared for the replacement of the floor, staff and I sat down with Olsson to discuss the best route to take,” said Richmond City Administrator Tonya Willim. “This work order encompasses an evaluation of the floor once the demolition has occurred to assess the condition.” Willim said once they remove the floor and hardwood, the staff can determine the conditions underneath. “Olsson will also be collecting slabon- grade coring to advise us on the thickness and strength of the concrete prior to the installation of new concrete and the new floor,” she said. “Olsson will provide assessments and review floor manufacturer’s requirements that do not conflict with installation of concrete on top of existing slab to surface and new floor installation.
