City encourages bikers to visit downtown Richmond
RICHMOND – “Bikers welcome” is the message sent with four new bicycle stands recently installed around Richmond’s downtown square.
The community beautification project, funded by the city of Richmond, includes four new bike racks and four matching park benches, one on each side of the downtown square.
Cost for the improvements is $4,437, coming from the city’s beautification budget of $10,000 for FY22.
The bike racks and park benches follow the city’s addition of street banners installed earlier this year on light poles.
“As part of the city’s recently adopted comprehensive plan, we are working to enhance the public realm in the downtown area by reinforcing the character of downtown Richmond with additional streetscape amenities,” Economic Development Director
James Gorham said.
Next up is the addition of matching trash cans and street sign enhancements.
