City council approves $7,500 police grant
The Richmond City Council last week unanimously approved Bill No. 23-33, an ordinance approving subaward agreement articles between the Richmond Police Department and the state of Missouri regarding the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant for the Counter Terrorism Officer (CTO) Program.
This grant is administered by the Missouri Department of Public Safety (DPS) through the Missouri Department of Public Safety Office of Homeland Security (OHS). The CTO Equipment Grant is available to any agency employing a member of the Missouri OHS Counter Terrorism Officer Program, according to dps.mo.gov.
“This is an initiative we have been starting. The head of DPS reached out to us to see if we were interested in entering a task force type of thing. We did choose to participate and we got two officers that are currently trained in that avenue,” said Richmond Police Chief Scott Bagley.
