Christian Road Bridge opens, monitoring plan in place

Christian Road Bridge is now open to traffic, marking a long-anticipated milestone for Ray County. The project, built through collaboration between the county, Mo-DOT, Burns & McDonnell and Decker Construction, was confirmed complete during a recent commission meeting, where engineers detailed the bridge’s safety, testing results and long-term monitoring plan. The bridge has passed its final walkthrough and is open for use, as reported by Burns & McDonnell Project Manager Mark Huck, Decker Construction’s Tom Decker and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) LPA Construction Manager Elliot Ligtenburg, who reported while construction concluded successfully, testing results for the bridge deck’s concrete showed a slight discrepancy from original specifications, prompting discussion about how to proceed.
