Bridge of Hope explains STD rise

The Richmond Bridge of Hope is shedding light on the current challenges individuals face regarding their health. Richmond Bridge of Hope Executive Director Connie Taylor has reported a concerning trend of a rising number of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or infections being reported. Additionally, individuals are not seeking medical treatment for STDs or getting tested for them. Furthermore, there is a lack of resources available for those with criminal backgrounds. “Bridge of hope is seeing many clients, particularly young women, who are not getting tested or treated for STDs,” said Taylor. “Some clients have an attitude of not caring about their STD diagnosis and the potential consequences. Bridge of Hope is trying to break the cycle of STD transmission and lack of treatment, but it is frustrating when clients are uncooperative or dismissive about the issue.” STDs have reached alarming levels across the nation.
