Bridge claim, copier contract lead county discussions
Uncertainty over ownership of a critical rural bridge and rising copier expenses have county officials reviewing long-term oversight and budgeting strategies.
Commissioners considered signing a letter confirming that the county owns a bridge tied to a temporary infrastructure project. The move came after a Zoom call raised questions about bridge jurisdiction and commissioners later expressed concern that prior documents may not have clearly stated county ownership.
“After thinking about this, could we do an addendum message to clarify that the county does own this bridge?” said Presiding Commissioner Sheila Tracy.
The clarification may impact ongoing funding and maintenance responsibilities. While a letter had been signed previously, officials agreed that ensuring the ownership statement is explicit is necessary to prevent further confusion.
