Bowers completes HOF trifecta with induction at RHS

RICHMOND – Rob Bowers has achieved a triple crown of coaching. On June 5, the former, longtime Richmond varsity football coach was inducted into the Spartan Athletic Hall of Fame. The honor followed Bowers’ induction into the Missouri and Greater Kansas City football coaches associations’ halls of fame. “Being in the Hall of Fame is a huge honor,” Bowers said during the induction ceremony in the Richmond High commons. “It’s something that I know I didn’t really have on my radar when I started out.” Bowers, whose resume includes leading Richmond to the 2010 Class 3 state title, is among four individuals with ties to Richmond’s football program inducted this year. Kyle Newham, Cody Buhrmiester and Charlie Pugh joined him. Newham, a 1996 graduate, was an all-Missouri River Valley Conference lineman in football, his bio states.
