Bond posted in Hardin child endangerment case
A Hardin man has been released from custody after posting bond on a felony charge tied to what authorities described as a hazardous chemical storage situation beneath a child’s bedroom.
James A. Jones, 44, is charged with one felony count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, creating a substantial risk, no sexual contact. He recently posted $3,000, or 10% of a $30,000 cash or surety bond, and was released from Ray County Jail under court supervision. Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Kelly Rhodes approved the bond conditions, taking Jones out of no-bond status during an earlier arraignment hearing.
Under the conditions of release, Jones must comply with standard court orders and avoid any unlawful contact with the alleged victim, who is his son. He is also barred from storing chemicals near the child.
His next hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 19.
