Bond modified for ES man facing 35 harassment charges
An Excelsior Springs man has been granted a bond modification in two felony cases, allowing him to post 10% toward bonds, while facing dozens of harassment charges, a domestic assault charge and a probation violation.
David Andrew Bowman, 24, recently appeared in custody via video for hearings before Circuit Court Judge J. Bartley Spear Jr., who ruled that a 10% cash deposit would be authorized in both new cases. Spear cited the seriousness of the allegations, Bowman’s record of prior convictions and the danger to victims and the community in setting and maintaining strict conditions of release.
In one case filed Aug. 14, Bowman faces 35 counts of first-degree harassment, a class E felony, and misdemeanor fourth-degree domestic assault. Spear set bond in that case at $50,000 cash only with special conditions. At the recent hearing, he authorized a 10% cash deposit, allowing Bowman to post $5,000 for release if all other conditions are met.
