RICHMOND – Wasting no time, Greg Darling said he started to look for houses in town last week after being named Richmond School District’s superintendent of schools. “We’re excited to be a part of the Spartans family,” Darling said. “I feel blessed to be the next superintendent for Richmond. I think it’s a great fit.” The board agreed to pay Darling $135,000. His contract starts July 1. In Iowa, Darling received $174,000. Darling replaces Superintendent Mike Aytes, whom the board fired for contested reasons. Aytes received $130,000 per year. After receiving six or seven applicants, the school board interviewed three people for the job, Richmond School Board President Penny Vandiver said.
