Sometimes people get blamed, sometimes people do the blaming. Why does it seem we are suddenly encapsulated with blaming and being blamed? Are we all just treating each other like children, or do people have a valid reason for blaming others? Blame involves four typical behaviors: criticism, contempt, defensiveness and stonewalling. If society is inciting blame these are the reactions, we receive from individuals that are being blamed, according to Michael Timms, a Harvard Business Review online writer. While blame is a natural occurrence at some point and is driven by the fundamental attribution bias to blame others when something goes wrong, Timms said. Is there something individuals can do to change that type of culture?
