4-H diorama receives purple ribbon
When a child or teen participates in the Ray County Fair and the 4-H Exhibits, it is a learning experience. But for Wyatt Covey,
14, it was also an opportunity to physically create a dream barn shop inspired by his grandfather’s.
Covey began his realistic diorama last year and finished the day prior to his presentation, he stated. This wasn’t his first time making a diorama, he said, but noted it is the first time he completed one.
“I just finished yesterday,” he said before going in front of the exhibit judge.
He pushed a button and lights came on in the shop, he smiled and explained how he created the project.
“I began with the cardboard at the bottom and then made a wall with popsicle sticks around it. I built up the walls and framed it with cardboard on the sides. I completed the trusses next for stabilization, I got those glued on and then cut out the cardboard for those,” he said. “I glued the floor in and then started adding accessories inside.”
