Ray Rocks Off-Road Resort held its grand opening on April 1. Owners Mairanne D’Amato and Devin Wilmoth welcomed off-roaders of all ages to their new facility located at 25900 Hwy 10 Rayville, MO. The event featured free lunch from Barbacoa de Pecoso and live music performed by Stone Canyon.

“Opening day was outstanding – we were thrilled so many people came out to celebrate with us,” D'Amato exclaimed. The owners were inspired by repeatedly driving by the property and being intrigued by the possibilities.

“We always thought it would be nice to have an offroad park closer to KC,” D’Amato said. “Everything snowballed from there.”

Ray Rock Offroad Resort is a family-friendly outdoor riding park for off-road vehicles. The property is a former rock quarry; the terrain lends itself to a wide range of wheeling experiences for the casual trail driver as well as those who crave the adrenaline rush of more challenging trails.

“There's something here for everyone. We have guests of all ages and all skill levels,” D’Amato emphasized.

People from surrounding counties and towns visit the resort to explore.

“They have a whole bunch of different trails you can go on,” Lexington resident Jailyn Christophene said she had a good time with her father Jon and his friends.

“They rank from one to six based on their difficulty level. We just drove around and tried the different ones.”

Ray Rocks is a constant work in progress and the staff continues to cut new trails and tweak existing ones, D'Amato explained. The property offers RV parking and primitive camping while intending to offer shower houses and maybe some cabins in the future.

“Some guests enjoy fishing in the ponds, and we’ve had requests to have kayaking and diving,” she said. They plan on investigating the options for additional types of entertainment. Off-roading can also be a year-round sport, said D’Amato.

“If you’re dressed appropriately and pay attention to trail conditions – there’s no reason it has to be seasonal only,” she added.
