FFA members square off at Ray County Super Farmer

Posted in:
With the goal of having fun and bonding, surrounding high school Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters joined together and hosted a “Super Farmer” event at the Ray County Fairgrounds July 11 at 5:30 p.m. Contests include hay stacking, land skis, sponge bomb toss, post driving, dizzy nail driving, culvert bucket race and tug-o-war. “This will be the third time we have tried hosting this event in recent years. It is an old tradition and used to be a qualifying event for people to participate at the State Fair. I am not sure when it started and stopped,” said Richmond High School (RHS) FFA Advisor Laura Allen. “There isn’t a Super Farmer contest at the Missouri State Fair anymore either.” “I enjoy watching the FFA members from other Ray County FFA Chapters interact. For me, this event is about the students interacting with FFA members from other chapters,” said Hardin-Central FFA Advisor Joe Robinson. Members from area FFA chapters are invited to attend and participate.
