Harold E. Stewart

Harold E. Stewart, 101 years old, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Life Care Center of Carrollton.

Harold was born on August 19, 1917, near Tina, Missouri, the son of Earl G. and Bertha (Newton) Stewart. He attended school at both Bogard and Tina, and graduated from Tina High School. On August 19, 1938, he married his sweetheart, Mildred Fordham at Bagnell Dam at the Lake of the Ozarks and they shared many wonderful years together. Harold worked as an Area Maintenance Supervisor for the State of Missouri Highway Department for thirty-seven years and retired in 1979. He made many trips to Minnesota with family and friends to go fishing! Harold also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, and watching the Kansas City Royals in his spare time. He liked helping his wife in the garden and was even known to help her prepare the food for canning. Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carrollton, and Kiwanis Club, where he had served as past President.

Harold is survived by his two children, John Stewart, of Carrollton, Missouri, and Linda R. Scheible and husband Wayne, of Richmond, Missouri; two grandchildren, Michael Wayne Scheible and wife Traci, and Mark Alan Scheible and wife Tanya; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Jane Scheible and Ava Elizabeth Scheible; as well as several cousins; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bertha Stewart; his wife Mildred; one brother, Gaylon Stewart; three sisters, Ruth Hensley, Wilma Dolan, and Hazel Burnside; four half-sisters, Marguerite Harbour, Irma Goins, Mildred Dickinson, and Ethel Stephenson.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 North 65 Highway, Carrollton, Missouri.

Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Bittiker Funeral Home, with Reverend Jeremy Payne, officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri.
