Mary Ruth Coleman

Mary Ruth Coleman, 76, of Richmond, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Richmond.
Mary was born Nov. 18, 1942, in Wright County, Missouri, to Burl Howard and Mayme Lydia (Prock) Austin. She married Earl “Sam” Coleman, of Richmond, May 27, 1972. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son, Greg Coleman of Richmond; two daughters, Teresa (Johnny) Teeman of Harkers Island, North Carolina, and Mendy (James) Windsor of Richmond; one sister, Judy (David) Austin McGuire of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Nicholas (Ashli) Teeman, Colby Teeman, Jayce (Tenaya) Teeman, Austin Coleman, Justin Coleman, Elizabeth Windsor and Alexander Windsor; and four great-grandchildren, Emma Teeman, Stella Teeman, Jackson Teeman, and Jameson Teeman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jim W. Austin.
Mary grew up on a family-owned dairy farm, where she spent summers with her Grandma and Grandpa Austin. She graduated from Plato High School in 1961. Mary has lived in the Richmond area since 1972. While in Richmond, she worked at Price Candy in Richmond, at the the middle school as a lunch lady, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in the laundry department and did some local office work.
Her hobbies and interests included refinishing furniture, crocheting and making jewelry. She also loved to travel, especially to go to the Grand Old Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. She also enjoyed going to the Lake of the Ozarks, boating and fishing. She loved shopping, spending time with her family, especially chasing around her special girl, Elizabeth, playing softball.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mary R. Coleman. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St. – P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
