Lorraine June Selleck

Lorraine June Selleck, 85, of Braymer, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at Hillcrest Manor in Hamilton.

Lorraine was born June 18, 1933, in Calvert, New York, the daughter of James and Louis (Lovelace) Tripp.

Survivors include: her husband, John Selleck, of the home; one brother, Rev. Harry Tripp and his wife, Esther, of North Ridge, California; one sister, Carol Ann Rolison of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and many nieces, nephews, friends, and past parishioners of all of the churches they have served.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Barbara Clemens and Janice Smith, and one sibling in infancy.

Lorraine was reared and educated in the area of her birth.  She married Rev. John Benjamin Selleck of Elmira, New York, Aug. 19, 1961. After their marriage, Lorraine and John began their life in the ministry.  Rev. John and Lorraine preached all over the country and served many churches over the years. For the past 20 years, they served at churches in Missouri, including, Waverly, Gillman City and Orrick.

Lorraine’s role as a preacher’s wife came with many extra titles and duties she performed at the churches they pastored. They lived on their acreage, south of Braymer at Tinney Grove, for the past 18 years. Lorraine worked outside the home for a short while in the nursery at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas, while living there. 

Lorraine was a country girl; she and John enjoyed living in the country on their acreage, where she enjoyed gardening and planting flowers.  Lorraine was a member of the Assembly of God church in Richmond.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Assembly of God Church in Richmond. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St. – P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at the Assembly of God Church in Richmond. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.  Inurnment will be at a later date in Tinney Grove Cemetery.
