Laurel Ann (Scott) Campbell

Laurel Ann (Scott) Campbell, 48, of rural Richmond, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, in the comfort of her home, which she shared with her significant other, Thomas Hartman.
Laurel was born Oct. 27, 1970, to Tommie and Shirley Scott of Excelsior Springs. She was the second child born to the Scott’s and their first daughter.
Laurel spent her early years in Excelsior Springs growing up with her two brothers, Tom and Tim, and later a sister, Lisa. Laurel had a very adventurous personality. She spent her time making friends with the neighbor children and chasing puppies, kittens and other critters. She loved running around the creek collecting pieces of nature – some of which her mother was not impressed with – mice, snakes, crawdads, etc. She was blessed with a love for literature and enjoyed reading and writing throughout her life.
Laurel was the mother to four children: Curtis High, David High, Chelsea Campbell “Shelmadine” and Andrew Campbell. She loved her children very much and shared with them her love of animals, especially the “strays.”
Laurel made friends with the people who needed her the most and made them family. She was caring and tender hearted. She loved horses from a young age and finally fulfilled her dreams of owning some. She loved to ride horseback and enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include: her mother, Shirley Scott; her siblings, Tommie A. and Kristina Scott, Tim and Effie Scott, and Lisa Shroyer. Also surviving are: Thomas Hartman, Ronald Campbell, and her children, Chelsea and husband Jesse, Curtis and wife Samantha, and Andrew Campbell.
She leaves two grandsons: Bentley High, Noah Shelmadine; two granddaughters: Amber High, Ayla Hartman; and many nieces and nephews.
