Delores “Dee” I. Crenshaw, 83, of Mooresville, Indiana, formerly of Richmond, passed away Sept. 30, 2018, at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville.

Dee was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Santa Rosa, California, to the late Lewis Crenshaw and Ida (Claussen) Crenshaw.

Dee worked as a switchboard operator for American Optical for many years, until her retirement. Following that, she served numerous families as a live-in caregiver for their loved ones.

A faithful woman, she was a longtime member of the Faith Lutheran Church, LCMS and served in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) helping serve meals to those in need. Dee also served on the church board as the chairwoman for the Evangelism Team. She sent numerous cards of cheer and sympathy to members of Faith as well as families outside the parish, and for years she would walk to the nursing home and take sermon tapes to members as part of her service. She will always be remembered by the Richmond community for her cheerful smile and warm heart andtitled by many as the “Walking Lady” as she traveled Richmond daily on foot waving at passers-by.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wilfred Lee Crenshaw, and a sister, Lola Fern McCain.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother, James M. Crenshaw; a sister, Helen J. Wilson and many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews; and great- great-nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends in her home town of Richmond and surrounding communities.

According to Dee’s wishes she will be cremated.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m.Saturday, Oct. 13, at Faith Lutheran Church, Richmond preceded by visitation at 1:30 p.m. Dee’s final resting place will be in the Lutheran Cemetery north of Norborne.
