Susann A. Logsdon

Susann A. Logsdon, 85, of Richmond died Saturday, June 9, 2018, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Susann was born on Nov. 19, 1932, in Preston, Mo., to Elijah and Cora (Charleston) Steely. She married William Logsdon in May 1951, and he survives of the home.

Survivors include: two sons, Tim (Sarah) Logsdon, Richmond, and Arch (Sheila) Logsdon, Richmond; two daughters, Debra (Forrest) Eaton, Richmond, and Dottie (Rick) Johnson, Richmond; eight grandchildren, Billy Logsdon, Tim (Heather) Logsdon, Brandy True, Luke (Michelle) Logsdon, Ashley Logsdon, Tony Johnson, Adam Logsdon and Austin Logsdon; 10 great-grandchildren, Steven Logsdon, Lacey Logsdon, Blake Logsdon, Emma True, Trent Logsdon, Paige Logsdon, Avery Logsdon, Zachary Garrison, Addie Logsdon and Taylee Logsdon.

Susann was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Billy Steely and Tom Steely; and one grandson, Josh Garrison.

Susann was raised and educated in Preston and graduated from high school in Kansas City. The family moved to Richmond in 1963. Bill continued to work at GM, and Susann raised their children and helped out on their farm northeast of Richmond, near Hickory Grove. Susann was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, and for a brief time, an AT&T switchboard operator. She was of the Christian faith. Susann loved bowling; traveling; and collecting thimbles, buttons and hat pins. She was a known “professional shopper” and enjoyed attending auctions.

The family suggests memorial contributions in memory of Susann be made to the Ray County Humane Society.

Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Thurman. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, northeast of Richmond. Online condolences may be made to the family at
