Seniors go out winners in 10-1 rout

The Spartan baseball team has a bit of momentum as they enter this weekend’s Class 4, District 15 tournament in Smithville. Although Richmond enters district play as the No. 5 seed, the Spartans ended the regular season Tuesday with a 10-1 win over MRVC East rival Lexington, and also helped send out the five seniors winners in their final appearance at Southview Park.

Although the Spartans end the regular season at 5-15 overall and 3-7 in the league, they begin weekend play having won two of their last three with double-digit scoring and also splitting their final four MRVC East games.

It didn’t take long for Richmond to take control of Tuesday night’s meeting with the Minutemen. The Spartans were looking for their first win of the season in their third try against Lexington.
