Schnieders returns as Hardin’s attorney

Hardin will soon start seeking legal assistance for drafting city legislation from a familiar source.

In one of several unanimously approved motions, the board of aldermen voted 3-0 during its meeting Tuesday night to rehire Bob Schnieders of the Oak Grove-based law firm Barton, Hall & Schnieders P.C as city attorney. Schnieders had been replaced in 2017 by Jennifer Baird of the Lee’s Summit-based firm Lauber Municipal Law.

Hardin opted to change attorneys because the city is “trying to save money,” Mayor Mike Pearson said.

City Clerk Patty Lam said Wednesday morning by email that she would mail a letter that afternoon to Baird to terminate her services because they are “no longer financially feasible for the city.
