Trevon Alexander, Kenton Delana, Andre Pritchett and Aidan Dorton get to have one last athletic hurrah together.

The foursome, each member of whom graduated last week from Richmond High School, finished third in the boys 1,600-meter relay last Saturday afternoon in the Class 3 Sectional 4 meet at Odessa. By placing among the top four, they qualified for this weekend’s Class 3 state meet at Jefferson City.

“No matter how many times we failed today, (we wanted to) make sure we … (came) home with something positive,” said Alexander, who ran the leadoff leg.

The team finished in 3 minutes, 28.63 seconds. A late surge by Dorton helped the Richmond runners qualify.

“He’s our fastest 400 runner and we know that he can take the pressure,” Alexander said. “And he does it every single time.”
