Motion to cease consolidation fails — again

The Hardin-Central C-2 School Board has a reorganized school board — and at its first meeting, the new board addressed an issue that that the previous board has wrestled with for several months: the possible consolidation of the Hardin-Central and Norborne school districts.

Following the old board’s unanimous certification of the April 3 school-board election results, Dana Burton and Brian Wheeler were sworn in Monday night at the district schoolhouse as new board members. Burton and Wheeler were the top two vote recipients, with Burton receiving 195 votes and Wheeler receiving 185.

They replace incumbents Jami Penny, who finished third, and Randy White, who didn’t seek re-election. Kyle Foster, who was re-elected board president on Monday, presented White with a plaque to honor his service, as requested by Superintendent Trey Cavanah.
