Lady ’Cats rally to enjoy first win this season

Shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, Orrick softball coach Bryan O’Dell and his Bearcats could sigh with relief.

It was during that time frame that senior catcher-turned-relief pitcher Karson Werle fielded a ground ball on the St. Paul Lutheran ballfield in Concordia and threw to first base. By doing so, Werle assisted on the final putout of the Bearcats’ 17-13 I-70 Conference win – their first win this season.

“It relieves a lot of pressure off the girls to get that first win,” O’Dell said.
