Ronald Dee Estes

Ronald Dee Estes, 65, of Columbia, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at his home.

Ronald was born Dec. 1, 1952, in Lexington, to Noah Samuel and Naomi Lee (Gregg) Estes.

Survivors include: one son, Matthew Ronald Estes, of Shelbyville; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Rodney Estes, of Columbia, and Noah and Stephanie Estes, of Richmond; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Judy Foley, of Braymer, Valerie and Bob MacDonald, of Richmond, and Virginia K. Estes, of Wellington.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents.

Ronald was born in Lexington and raised in Richmond. While he was growing up, he attended the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, where he graduated as salutatorian. After receiving his education, he worked for The Kansas City Star, Whitaker Cable in Lexington and Banquet Foods in Carrollton. In 1977 on the way home from work he was in an automobile accident, that left him paraplegic. Ronald went back to school to become a computer programmer and worked for the University of Missouri for 17 years until he retired. He enjoyed working on electronics, C.B. radios and enjoyed fishing with his brother.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ronald Dee Estes memorial fund.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, March 18, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later day in Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. Online condolences may be left at
