Former state representative Bob Nance, a familiar face to Ray Countians, has been named interim director of Ideal Industries. He’ll direct Ideal until the board can find a permanent replacement for Bob McCorkendale, who retires at the end of February.

McCorkendale has been the director of Ideal since the workshop began in 1980.

Nance, 68, represented the Missouri House of Representatives District 36 from 2005 to 2012. His resume also includes a stint as director of the Excelsior Springs Chamber of Commerce, from May 2013 to January 2015. He owned Nance’s Super, a grocery store in Excelsior Springs, for 23 years.

He currently serves on the board of Clay County Senior Services. He had a small hand in the newspaper business when he was about 12 years old, delivering papers for The Excelsior Springs Standard.
