The Richmond Spartans were back to their energetic selves Monday night as they opened play at the 24th Lawson Invitational. The Spartans’ speed and quickness proved to be too much for North Platte as third-seeded Richmond advanced to the semifinals with a 58-43 victory. The win snapped a two-game skid for the Spartans.

Richmond, now 8-4 for the season, got scoring production from guards Andre Pritchett and Dionte Marquez as Pritchett hit for a game-high 26 points, while Marquez added 17 more. Richmond coach Kevin Jermain was glad to see the spark back in his team.

“I felt like the last three games that our energy hasn’t been what it has been all year,” he said.
