Julie E. Jacobs

On Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, Julie Jacobs, an extraordinary wife and mother, passed away after a brief fight with cancer in Excelsior Springs at the age of 73.

Julie was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Richmond, to Ernest and Goldie (Farmer) Hinds. She married her husband and best friend, James Jacobs, of Richmond, July 3, 1964; he survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: one son, John Jacobs, of Lebanon; one daughter, Jill Jacobs, of Crystal Lakes; one granddaughter, Veronica Jacobs; and many friends and family of Julie both near and far.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents and many beloved cousins.

Julie was a friend to all who needed a compassionate ear. She spent countless hours of her life, giving encouragement and counsel to friends and family in need. She was a second mom to many, giving her time and cooking talents to guests who came to the family table. Julie was a practitioner of the Christian faith. She touched many lives with her devotion to loving and serving her fellow human beings. She was passionate in her advocacy for the downtrodden and marginalized.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect at 1325 Avenue of the Americas, 28th Floor New York, NY 10019.

Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 12, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at
