Donald Norris Clancy

Donald “Don” Norris Clancy, 74, of Henrietta, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at his home.

Don was born on March 15, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo., to Kenneth H. and Marie M. (Hessenflow) Clancy. He married Edna F. Rush, of Ray County, March 26, 1964; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: four sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald E. Clancy and Cindy Swope, of Richmond, Robert L. and Konnie Clancy, of Rayville, James M. and Glenda Clancy, of Camden, and William S. and Tina Clancy, of Marshfield; one sister, Rita Wilson, of Wood Heights; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Willie and Emily Clancy, Robin and Steven Farris, Christopher Clancy, Justin Clancy, Amanda and Lance Sleeley, Lacy Clancy and Matthew Clancy; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny Clancy and Robert Clancy; two sisters, Barbara Cox and Betty Spears; one grandson who died in infancy; and one great-grandson who died in infancy.

Don was a “Jack of all trades.” He was a rock mason, carpenter and mechanic; ran a salvage yard; and he also loved to fix up old cars.  He loved his family and especially family get-togethers.  Don enjoyed playing string instruments with his family. He liked to be his own boss. He was a strong-minded and stronghearted good man. He was a member of the Church of God in Richmond. Don lived most of his life in Ray County.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Donald Norris Clancy memorial fund in care of Thurman Funeral Home.

Friends and family gathered to celebrate Don’s life at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Henrietta City Hall. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Hickory Grove Cemetery, north of Richmond. Online condolences may be left at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
